How It All Started
Custom Laser Works is located in Calgary Alberta, I started this business in 2014 after trying to find my son a medal hanger for swimming, but not really liking the options that were available.
So I decided to learn a new skill - Graphic Design, and we invested in a very expensive piece of equipment a laser cutter.
A truck load of determination and lots of fails but here we are 5 years later with almost 80 different designs in two sizes and two main colours. The Medal Hangers are made from a durable 1/4" acrylic and are pretty strong, our smaller 11" hangers can hold up to 40 std medals. All the hangers we make are designed and made by us. I also design and cut my own packaging.
UV Printing Journey
The last 8 years we have also moved into making Acrylic medals , I started simple with just engraving onto acrylic and wood and then started painting the acrylic.
Near the end of 2019 we were so busy with medals we decided to look into DTS UV printing and in January 2020 we became the proud owners of said machine! UV printing directly to the acrylic or wood gives our medals a clean and professional look. The Acrylic is a stunning medium that highlights the medals and makes them completely unique. And with the ability to print white - the options are endless!
